An educational studio for study, practice, and reflection.
I study how children learn, how knowledge is organised, and how educational ideas can be developed through curriculum, pedagogy, and educational traditions.
ABOUT
Calista’s Educational Studio
Calista’s Educational Studio explores curriculum, pedagogy, and educational traditions in an ongoing study of how children learn better. I examine educational ideas, study them through research and reading, and put them into practice through teaching and writing.
I do not seek quick answers or a single perfect method. Instead, I approach education as an ongoing field of inquiry, drawing from different educational traditions and asking what can be learned from each.
These questions sit at the heart of how I think about education and shape the work I do through the Studio.
What should children learn?
How does learning develop over time?
How can thoughtful teaching help learners grow?
The four connected practices
Inquiry
Asking questions about education
I explore educational questions through reading, research, observation, and sustained inquiry.
Practice
Putting ideas to work
I implement educational ideas through teaching and learning, paying attention to what happens when those ideas meet actual learners.
Reflection
Examining what happens
I reflect on what I learn through teaching and inquiry, using writing and critical reflection to clarify my thinking.
Design
Developing what comes next
I turn what I have learned into curriculum, learning experiences, and approaches to teaching.
